Labor Day Holiday Greetings from Boys & Girls Club of Morgan County!

Thank you for your hard work and deep care for our community! We wish you had a fun and safe Labor Day Holiday weekend to re-energize and connect with your friends, relatives, and neighbors! You cannot be thanked enough for all you do to advocate for ALL Morgan County Youth! Thank you to the American Legion for Presenting the Flags and leading our kids and guests in the Pledge of Allegiance at the 10th Annual Celebrity Golf Outing! Thank you to Mike Washington, MWP Images, for providing great images of our event again this year! Images can be viewed here.

Our celebrities have been giving-back for a decade! You make the Boys & Girls Club of Morgan County Celebrity Golf Outing a remarkable charity event! Our great sponsors and all our fine golfers are changing the direction of young peoples’ lives every year! Thank you!

The Summer break was a vital time for Club youth to engage socially (not virtually) with friends, peers, and mentors!  Through the Club, you provide a safe place for all youth to develop friendships, identify interests, build their trust in others, and gain encouragement.

The Riley Children’s Foundation provided a gift of support for our Summer field trip experiences and Winter Holiday Family Events!  Riley Cares! Thank you for your thoughtfulness, friendship, giving, and for advocating for all Morgan County youth!

My Name is Miguel and I am pictured here with my Mom and brother. I’ve been asked to share my story with you, so that you can better understand what a donation to the Club helps pay for. My Mom works. So, if there wasn’t a Boys & Girls Club, I’d be at home with just my little brother. Luckily, we do not have to do that. Instead, I get to go to a fun place where I have friends. The Club was a safe place for more than 260 kids last year! When I am at the Club, one of the first things I do is work on homework. There is not a lot of time to work on it at home with my mom after she gets off work, picks us up and feeds us. School can be hard, but I have perfect attendance and I am getting my work done. The Club also provides everyone with an afterschool snack. I know it sounds like a little thing but, it helps me not get hungry. Finally, the last thing I love about the Club is it is fun. I’ve made new friends, sometimes we get to go on bike rides with Club staff.  We also take field trips that get me thinking about what I want to do when I graduate from high school in a few years. Thanks for reading my note and thank you for all of your support of the Boys & Girls Club! – Miguel, Club member since 2012.

You are a witness to Morgan County History! Thank you to the Mooresville Chamber of Commerce and everyone who came out for our Ribbon Cutting! Mt Gilead Church has come along-side of the Club and on August 1st the Mt Gilead Community Center became the New Home of the Boys & Girls Club of Morgan County!  Together we share a vision of making lives better in our community. This is an exciting partnership and critical time in our community to reach all kids with guidance and life changing positive experiences.

Join us on Saturday, October 6th for You are the Magic — a community Open House and Fundraising Dinner for the Boys & Girls Club of Morgan County. Full details to follow.

Event registration can be found here. Interested in considering becoming a Boys & Girls Club event sponsor? Contact Chris at 317-834-9744 or ctann@bgcofmorganco.org.

Almost 2/3 of all Americans experience childhood trauma, which for many people leads to a lifetime of obstacles and loss. Through the Boys & Girls Club you provide a solution that helps youth grow to reach their full potential to become caring, productive, and responsible citizens. An annual membership to the Boys & Girls Club costs families just $20 per child. The actual cost of Club programs and services is approximately $640 per child, annually. Your donations help fill the gap and allow us to serve more kids!

Thank you for your thoughtfulness, friendship, giving, and for advocating for all Morgan County youth! Hope you had a fantastic Labor Day Holiday!

Sincerely,

Chris
